2nd QAL

The second QAL I am participating in is the Synchronized Squares Quilt along hosted by Rachel Griffith at http://www.psiquilt.com/. I wont be finished in time to enter the contest but thats ok.
I decided to follow Rachel and used Kate Spain's Flurry. I needed a Christmas Quilt also.
I am not sure how I will quilt or piece the back of this right now. I have some smaller flannel sheets I may use along with some of the 2 1/2 strips that were cut of the layer cakes. I may also use this quilt to try free motion quilting for the first time.

1st QAL

I have joined 2 quilt alongs. One has been going on since the start of the year.
Birdies Stitches Block of the Month.

http://www.littlemissshabby.com/
I have completed 4 of the blocks and am working on the 5th now.
I am using Happier by Deena Rutter for Riley Blake, I thought all the birds in the scrumptious fabric was kinda appropriate.

It has been awhile since I had done any embroidery but it is coming back to me. I also have been using this site to remind me how to do some of the stitches. http://www.needlenthread.com/

Quilts done this week

Finished two quilts this past week. One for a co worker who is having a boy. I used a baby quilt pattern I seen here. http://www.modabakeshop.com/ . The quilt is this one http://www.modabakeshop.com/2010/09/snuggly-squares-baby-quilt_07.html#more . I did get some Lily and Will in blue to make it with. I love the straight line quilting I did on this one. I had seen some quilting done like this and kept a picture of it in a folder I have for quilt line patterns I like.
The other quilt I finished this week is for a Dr. I work with whose wife is expecting a girl. It was a kit I picked up with a 50% of coupon at Joann's. It actually turned out pretty nice and I have a decent amount of leftover fabrics from it.
