Gift Giving
The baby quilts were each recieved with much praise.
I think even though we know we made something special and unique, there is a small part way deep down that makes us wonder if the persons receiving the quilt will like it. Ok ok in my case they arent even born yet but you know...... parents.....
I currently have two tops completed, with the backs and bindings ready to go. Tomorrow I hope to have the top for my Dad's quilt done.
Pictures to come soon....

2nd QAL
The second QAL I am participating in is the Synchronized Squares Quilt along hosted by Rachel Griffith at http://www.psiquilt.com/. I wont be finished in time to enter the contest but thats ok.
I decided to follow Rachel and used Kate Spain's Flurry. I needed a Christmas Quilt also.
I am not sure how I will quilt or piece the back of this right now. I have some smaller flannel sheets I may use along with some of the 2 1/2 strips that were cut of the layer cakes. I may also use this quilt to try free motion quilting for the first time.

1st QAL
I have joined 2 quilt alongs. One has been going on since the start of the year.
I have completed 4 of the blocks and am working on the 5th now.
I am using Happier by Deena Rutter for Riley Blake, I thought all the birds in the scrumptious fabric was kinda appropriate.
It has been awhile since I had done any embroidery but it is coming back to me. I also have been using this site to remind me how to do some of the stitches. http://www.needlenthread.com/

Quilts done this week
Finished two quilts this past week. One for a co worker who is having a boy. I used a baby quilt pattern I seen here. http://www.modabakeshop.com/ . The quilt is this one http://www.modabakeshop.com/2010/09/snuggly-squares-baby-quilt_07.html#more . I did get some Lily and Will in blue to make it with. I love the straight line quilting I did on this one. I had seen some quilting done like this and kept a picture of it in a folder I have for quilt line patterns I like.
The other quilt I finished this week is for a Dr. I work with whose wife is expecting a girl. It was a kit I picked up with a 50% of coupon at Joann's. It actually turned out pretty nice and I have a decent amount of leftover fabrics from it.

First Quilt
My first quilt that I have completed.
I made this with a charm pack I purchased from http://www.keepsakequilting.com/ The sashing around the charms and backing came from http://www.thewildrosequiltshop.com/ a local shop.
I had done about half the quilting but hated it so I took it all out. I then went with just plain lines randomly placed and crossing. Its the perfect size for my lap when I am knitting on the couch.
